The Auster Mark V was an observation and liaison aircraft based on the American Taylorcraft design. It served with several Air Forces during WW2 and the Army Air Corps. Variations continued to be made into the 1960s. The slow speed (130mph) and large glass area made it ideal for observation duties, and it could also land in a short distance which made it useful for casualty evacuation.

This example is a Mark V of 659 Squadron RAF, circa 1945.

By today's standards this might be considered an ultralight... :giggle: Any chance to fly I would take it, even in a slow aircraft!
