Description

The Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber entered service with the US Navy in 1940 and is best known for the the Battle of Midway, but saw action all of the Pacific with the USN, USMC, USAAF, and RNZAF and finally post-war with the French Navy in the Indochina War.

The Dauntless was also produced as a land version called the A-24 Banshee which had no arrestor hook and was used by Chile, France and Mexico as well as the USAAF.

The Dauntless was armed with 2 x 12.7mm machine guns, 2 x 7.62mm machine guns, and could carry 2,250 lb of bombs.

Since seeing Midway my love of these planes is at an all time high. Gonna get myself a 1/32 scale kit, but I'm a little torn on colour scheme. The Midway ones were... kinda boring looking in terms of colour. But they're the Midway ones. Pretty significant. But the later war tri-colour variants are much more pleasing to look at.
