Lockheed SR-71 61-7980

The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird was a Cold War spy plane operated by the USA from 1966 to 1998.

The design was radical and revolutionary and it’s massive engines and early form of Stealth allowed it to out-run threats deep in hostile territory.  The top speed was more than 2,200 mph (3,540 km/h) which was a little faster than the MiG-25.

The SR-71 had a crew of two and carried an array of radars and cameras for reconnaissance, but was unarmed, relying on speed and altitude to evade interception.
