Description
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 entered service with the USSR in 1970, and also saw service with Soviet Bloc and many other countries around the world.
It was upgraded, improved, and modified several times until production ended in 1980. The main versions are the ‘M’ and ‘MF’ early fighters, the ‘P’ interceptor, ‘ML’ lightweight agile fighter, ‘BN’ ground-attack, and ‘U’ trainer.
The MiG-23 is armed with missiles and rockets according to version including 1 x 23mm cannon and and a mixture of missiles typically AA-7, AA-8, on two or four rails. Upgraded aircraft may carry AA-10, AA-11, and AA-12 missiles.
This example is a MiG-23BN of the Ethiopian Air Force 1985.
