MiG-25 Bulgaria 1

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 Foxbat entered service with the USSR in 1970 and was and was an impressive interceptor as well as a reconnaissance aircraft.  The MiG-25 was mostly built of steel to withstand the high temperatures at Mach 2.5 and above.

The main versions are the ‘P’ interceptor, ‘R’ reconnaissance and strike, and ‘RU’ or ‘PU’ trainers.  Both interceptors and recon aircraft have seen combat in the Middle East and North Africa.

The MiG-25 is normally armed with 2 x R-40R radar guided missiles and 2 x R-40T infrared guided missiles.
