I think it will be a good workhorse at sensible (sort of) money - It will never replace the F-16, Harrier, F-22, Su-27, MiG-29 as a piece of art, but as general fighting hardware it should be OK. I'm still wondering if we will get any carriers to put it on though...:O

For some reason the F-35 has been growing on me.
Maybe its because I started to inform myself better about it can actually do. Don't believe it's the miracle worker LockMart says it is, but, still, its quite amazing.

The looks also grew in me too. I still think it looks like a toad, but a cute toad. ^^

Ah, the F-35... I LOL every time I see this machine. In my opinion my government would have had a better deal with a bunch good old of Sukhois. :D

From an aerodynamic/thrust-to-weight standpoint, I'm sorely tempted to agree. VIFFing & Sidewinders aside, Harriers were apparently not the toughest simulated opponents for a teen-series fighter. And as far as stealth goes, I've been seeing no small number of 35s with wing hardpoints tacked right back on due to internal-cargo limits.

In my opinion russian weapons tend to work in the real world, in opposition to many US weapons whom are too complicated and need certain conditions to be effective. F-35s are having so much problems and their performances are so below expectations, that I would prefer to buy Sukhoi Su-30s instead: I would have the best (or at least the second best) multirole fighter of the world for a fraction of the price-per-unit of the F-35. And my machines would actually work. :P

As much as every other aviation mag I've read over the years trumpets the AMRAAM & AIM-9X, I'd love to have a better idea of Russian BVR missile reliability, though that R-73 was nasty enough to drive the -9X's development. I do dig the potential of long-range heat/radar-emission seekers against radar-dependent 'stealth' platorms.

Anyhow, I do love that MKI/MKM export Flanker, to say nothing of its predecessors. Be interesting to see how Sukhoi's T-50 stacks up compared to the Raptor & Euro-birds (Typhoon/Rafale/Gripen).
