Description
The Curtiss Kittyhawk or P-40E served with a wide number of Air Forces during WW2. It was developed from the earlier Tomahawk, but never achieved the status of other allied fighters of the era.
The P-40E was used by the USAAC, and was known as the Kittyhawk IA by other forces including the RAF, RAAF, RCAF, RNZAF, and Soviet Union
It was armed with 6 x 12.7mm machine guns and could also carry bombs on underwing hardpoints.
This example is a P-40E of the 344th Fighter Squadron USAAC 1943.
