Description

The AH-64 'Apache' Attack Helicopter first left the production line in 1983 and has proved itself in combat many times. The AH-64A is well armoured and agile, and can track targets day or night using infrared sensors and laser targeting. The latest version, the AH-64D 'Longbow' has a radar fitted above the rotor head, and upgraded electronics and cockpit instruments. The Apache is in use with the US Army, Israel, Kuwait, the British Army, Greece, Japan, UAR and the Netherlands.

The Apache is armed with a 30mm chain gun, linked to the gunner's helmet sight, Hellfire missiles, and Hydra unguided rockets. Sidewinders can also be carried for self-defence.

This example is an WAH-64 of the British Army Air Corps circa 2007. The WAH-64 or AH-1 is a licence-built AH-64D made in the UK by Westland. The main difference from the standard Apache is the use of Rolls-Royce engines instead of General Electric, which boosts the power from 1,890hp to 2,100hp. The WAH-64 also had different avionics and uses CRV7 rockets instead of Hydras.

I heard that CRV7 rockets are much more accurate than Hydra 70s.

Is that true?
